"Groupers" Premieres for Friends and Family at the World Famous Chinese Theater
Anderson Cowan's Indie-feature dark comedy titled "Groupers" premiered for friends and family at the World Famous Chinese Theaters on Hollywood Boulevard this past weekend. Despite nervousness surrounding the film's themes (which include sexuality as a choice or predisposition set from birth,) the film was met with applause and raving reviews at the afterparty.
The film is about a grad student who kidnaps two homophobic high-school bullies to use as her subjects in an experiment performed at the bottom of an empty swimming pool. Nicole Dambro plays the lead role of Meg, a passionate psychology graduate student who hatches a plan with her tormented brother to seek revenge and simultaneously create the best thesis project, like, ever.
The cast of colorful characters, alternating perspectives, and thought-provoking themes paired with Milan "Miki" Janicin's beautiful cinematography gives this film a definite possibility of becoming a festival darling and future cult classic.
